The Dimensity 8000 and 8100 are both geared towards providing premium performance and features, but at a more affordable price point.
MediaTek’s high-end Dimensity 9000 processor is highly anticipated, but so far has not been released. Meanwhile, MediaTek decided to launch two new processor chips based on the 5nm process, which are Dimensity 8000 and 8100.
The Dimensity 8000 and 8100 are both geared towards providing premium performance and features, but at a more affordable price point. These two processor chips can be equipped for mid-range and high-end smartphones. Realme will be the first smartphone company equipped with new MediaTek chips, with the launch of Realme GT Neo 3 in the near future.
Both new MediaTek processors have 8 CPU cores, including 4 high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores and 4 energy-efficient Arm Cortex-A55 cores. However, there is a small difference, in Dimensity 8100 the Cortex-A78 core is clocked at 2.85Ghz, and in Dimensity 8000 the Cortex-A78 core is clocked at 2.75Ghz. In both processors, the Cortex-A55 cores are clocked at 2.0Ghz.
Regarding the integrated GPU, the Dimensity 8000 and 8100 are both equipped with the same Mali-G610 MC6. However, MediaTek says that the Dimensity 8100 has a 20% higher GPU frequency than the Dimensity 8000.
Both of these processors are also equipped with the Imagiq 780 ISP, which allows 4K 60fps HDR10+ video recording. Supports advanced features such as 2x lossless zoom, AI-Motion, and AI-NR/HDR. Both are also equipped with MediaTek’s 5th generation APU 580, which supports AI tasks.
However, there is also a small difference, that is, the APU of the Dimensity 8100 has a 25% higher frequency than the Dimensity 8000, so that the AI task processing speed is also faster.
Finally, both Dimensity 8000 and 8100 have integrated 5G modem, support for 2 SIM mode, maximum download speed of 4.7 Gb/s. You’ll also get Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth LE Audio with Dual-Link True Wireless Stereo support, and Bluetooth 5.3.
